6. GO NATURAL

As black woman the quest in beauty often involves weaves, weaves and lots of weaves. This often comes with neglecting your own hair and a receding hairline, which was the case with me so I cut my hair and I'm going back to nature!I'm really loving the short hair thus far, miss the weaves but for the health of my hair .Its worth it. Which is also why I will never relax my babies hair.

7. Host a big shun-dig of a party (I have never had a huge b-day party)

LOL....THIS ITEM IS A MUST!!! Not only because I will celebrating entering into a new milestone of life but also cause I never had a big birthday except for my 1st birthday-not that I remember, just saw pics. I refused to have a 21st ,was going through my strict Christian phase, where I was still focusing on getting God's approval by dead works so I thought it would be wrong for me to have a party and all the other birthdays were just normal. BUT NEXT YEAR I will be hosting a huge party- theme, dress-up,venue and all!!!I believe I will be rewarding myself and most importantly celebrating the gift of life God has blessed me with. Can't wait ....definitely gonna write  post about i

8. Start a business

Not only is life so expensive nowadays that you need more than one income stream to enjoy life, but God has over the years blessed me with loads and loads of business ideas. I pray for the grace to start a business next year. God gives us gifts, ideas and passions and its our duty to make em come to plus with His Grace. Im really praying and hoping this prayer of mine comes to life before my 30s. Prayer+ Faith+Hardwork=SUCCESS!!!....PRAYING REAL HARD....

9. Go on a nice holiday with the hubby and kids.

Simply because it would be to nice to have a family vacay and I can't wait to see my little babies in their cute bikinis and the little feet pitta-pattering on the beach.

10.  BE MORE BEAUTIFUL, MORE WISER AND BETTER!!!

In short I want to be like fine wine which gets better with age!!!

I just cant wait for the 30s....I'm ready

10 things I have to do before 30!!!# Bucketlist

Its been a loooooooooooooooooooooong post coming....Sorry for the silence! Life happened and have been a bit busy but also a bit lazy. To all of you who kept visiting my page even during the silence- So sorry and thank you for keeping the faith in me!

Anyway on a lighter note ,with the year coming to an end......(time flies!!!) and me turning 30 in the new year 2016,  thought I should share my  bucket list of things I HAVE TO DO before I HIT THE BIG 30!

30 is a big milestone and you're officially not a "young adult" anymore but a FULL GROWN WOMAN! I refuse to call it growing older but wiser, so most (not all) of my bucket list items are not so "wise" things I want to do before I reach what I will feel will be my full maturity point. Whether I do all of them ....hmhhhhhhh but here's my list anywho...lol....

Please keep an open mind and don't judge ,I've lived quite a quiet life so allow me to be adventurous and silly toe!!!

10 things to do before the BIG 30!!!

1. Enter a reality competition!

Don't know how far I will go in the competition but I just have to do this before I turn 30. I am going to wait in the queues of either IDOLS, Clash of the choirs or any other preferrably singing /talent competition before I hit the big 30, will even post about the experience. lol...#CAN'T WAIT!!!

2. GO bunjy jumping!

I know some of your ladies have most probably done this but I am such a scary cat but this I have to do . I'm seeing this as me facing my fears and leaping into a new chapter in my life.

3. Get a tatoo!

Get a heart tatoo on my wrist like (see pic)
I love love love this tatoo and I often draw it on my hand. Hearts symbolise love and I'm all about love and also it will represent that as an full adult I will always wear my heart on my sleeve....live life honestly. As whether I will pluck up the courage to do it...

4. Do something I've never do!
This I can actually tick off my bucketlist but can't share what it is ...but I did it!

5. Spoil myself where I can...
We work hard as moms especially as working moms and we need to sometimes spoil and indulge in ourselves. This I have also started doing and this item I will do before and through my 30S AND BEYOND!I even recently started a designer perfume collection for myself  just to pamper and spoil myself (WANT TO COLLECT 10 BY 30)cause I deserve to smell glorious, feel luxurious and be  spoiled -love myself. Please ladies we deserve and should love ourselves, if you don't spoil yourself ever .....please start!!!The main thing is to balance don't overindulge in yourself and loose focus of the kids and hubby and mostly GOD!

I have decided to make this post in two parts. I will post Part 2 of this post Thursday 12/11/2015...hope you like it so far!

P.S- FROM NOW ON I VOW TO POST AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH.
P.S.S- THANK YOU FOR YOU CONTINUED SUPPORT

SUPER LATE POST ....Lelo's 1st Birthday And Rori's 8th combined party

HI MAMMIES!!!

Finally back after a hectic week of Project  Management training (will share more on it on Wisdom Wednesday) and as promised lots of pics from my last born's 1st Birthday. Please don't forget to give feed back  on my party planning skills please!!! lol....Can I quit my day job to pursue the event management business full time yet????

Anyway this post is going to have little writing (mainly pics post). Hope you enjoy the post and maybe use some of the tips when planning your kids parties in future.

Decor setup- I used Royal Blue for my nephews soccer/sports party and Baby pink for Lelo's Teddy bear party

I know is very generic and clique but the colours just worked out and looked great together don't you think? I used little touches in the the party cups and party hats and serviettes to go with the respective themes of soccer balls and teddy bears. In retrospect if I had a good phone(my phone got damaged ) I would of taken close ups of the cups ,decor pieces etc.

More Decor ... I was so excited bought party packs cause I made em myself:-)

Lelos cake table
Rori's cake table

I was so pleased with this cake...it exceeded my expectations. A friend's fiance' Chef  Nick Thomsett made this cake

It was chocolate flavoured and oh so cute!

These were just a few elements I used for my little ones' special day. I really enjoy event planning and I hope to one done pursue this business avenue as a career. It looked pretty  , was happy with the overall results and most important my nephew and daughter had a special day!!!!!!!

Special SHOUT OUT to my sister Refilwe Makhafola for making the day memorable for the kids (I'm sure I have the best sister in the world) and who is  a first time reader here. Hey sisi!!!

Lots of love!!! @starterFashionistama'XOXO

LELOS FIRST BIRTHDAY COUNT DOWN!!! Mommy tips on planning a nice but budget friendly party

HELLO TO ALL MY STARTER MUMMIES

A whole week without posting .....can't believe it! FEEL LIKE I 'VE FAILED YALL BUT SOOOOOO BUSY!

My boss was on maternity leave and she's now back full force so Mahlaku is once again a very busy PA. And my youngest is turning 1 as well this week so party planning is now also in the mix for the past week and this week but I'm very happy with how things are coming along. On top of it all God blessed me with extra money so I can give my little Lelo a worthwhile while party (lol....not that she'll remeber much) BUT I'M HAPPY!!!

Five more days and still alot to do. I'll post lots of pics the party when I'm done then you can rate my party planning skills....neh.

Before I get into my 1ST PARTY PLANNING TIPS below...Here's a very late pic of my 2ND traditional "wedding" outfit as promised. What you think.....lol....BE HONEST. (Sorry I don't have a full length pic).By the grace of God the whole affair went well and I'm so glad its over!!!

Back to Lelo-Bear 1st Birthday!!!

The party is a combined birthday for both my lil princess and my nephew who turned 8 on Sunday 23 August 2015. The theme will be Soccer Balls and Teddy bears(fun right!) but for the purpose of the blog will be focusing on the Teddy Bear side i.e. My daughter Kgalalelo"Lelo" 1ST BDAY!

STARTER FASHIONISTA MA'S PARTY PLANNING TIPS

TIP 1- Choose a theme

I wanted to choose a theme relevant to my baby and not to just go for a generic theme. Although it was struggle getting teddy bear themed party deco and supplies: I call her Lelo-Bear cause she is as sweet as a bear ,I swear I think she is the sweetest if not top 10 sweetest babies in the world-so calm ,so I went for the teddy bear theme ! I knew it would be difficult to get supplies so I started research a month in advance so when I saw it was possible I went online and prepared the invite and started planning the party accordingly.
(A PIC OF THE INVITE WHICH IS ACTUALLY A BUNNY DISGUISED AS TEDDY BEAR IS AVAILABLE ON MY PREVIOUS POST )LELO INVITE

TIP 2- DIY

This is a one year old's birthday and to be honest there is no need to be too extravagant so keep it simple. Do all the things you can you self that's why I'm planning and also gonna decorate and cook for the party myself. I used a party planner last for my eldest daughter Rere's 1st birthday but I'm older and wiser now. lol!Not only is it more budget friendly but it also makes the party come from the heart. Its all u and ur love expressed to your baby. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying make all the decor from scratch and not ask for help from family at all but put urself , your creative juices and all of you in creating a memorable day for your little one.

TIP 3-  Create a checklist

A basic element necessary for planning any event/thing. It will ensure all the plans and aspects of the party are covered. Here's my little checklist just to make sure all stays on track

WEIGHTLOSS UPDATE: I DON'T WANNA BE PLUS SIZED THOUGH

Good Day/Morning/Evening mammies depending on where you reading my blog from.

Hope all my fellow Mammies are well and good and especially that the babies are also very happy and healthy!

I promised a month ago that I would post a pic of my progress to date on my weight loss journey but I have to admit I am failing quite a bit and very sad at that BUT AM NOT GIVING UP!!! So anyway here it goes ,not much progress to date but not looking too shabby either.....

My face and hair not really on fleek BUT I'M LOVING MY OOTD!!!RIGHT?

As I'm sure you all know by now, I like other if not all woman LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVE shopping and I have found that I now have to buy a size 38 and not 36 anymore (now as in this year so far). This makes me quite sad ,given my age and height,am not supposed to be at this shape and weight at this stage in my life. I am currently now what would be regarded as a plus size woman. Although there are some great inspirational  plus size woman/models whom I adore like @thickleeyonce and  @lirisc

Please check out these ladies Instagram accounts

They are so gorgeous ,oooze a whole lot of sex appealand  confidence ..... I absolutely love them!

Although I believe in their love yourself as you are philosophies and although there is a rise of appreciation and acceptance of plus size woman in fashion and the world in general, I just don't wanna remain plus size regardless. I have nothing against woman who are plus size and love it but I was not born nor grew up plus size hence my dismay and discomfort with my current size.

This post is not meant to be insulting or anything , just a "wake-up call" to me and other mommies struggling with their post pregnancy weight ,to get a move on and make the change we want!

Although you'll still look beautiful and our dear husband's will still love and adore us in our new bodies(THEY BETTER IF THEY KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR THEM...LOL), if you are not happy in your current body-change it! How u feel about yourself is the most important thing.

Thats why I admire Jennifer Hudson and Dineo Moeketsi so much;although they have been criticized for being too skinny now and told that they looked better thicker .They strived and accomplished bodies that they felt comfortable with AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!!!I'M INSPIRED....

LATE POST MOMMY MONDAY+ WISDOM WEDNESDAY + THOTS THIS THURSDAY (ALL-IN-ONE)

Hi Mammies.

Its getting more and more challenging to post,  been a little discouraged with the readership but I know and understand that the blog is still new and a baby blog (see wat I did there....baby..lol)

Anyway will keep on posting and sharing and will get there eventually...

How the year has flown by - Can you imagine we already in August of 2015!!!

Have you achieved all the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year? (or some at least)

God keeps giving us a chance to be better and get to where we want to get .With every new day He grants us and every new month, He gives us a chance and all we have to do is use it wisely. ( That's my Thot this Thursday)

Well to be honest I have failed so far on my main goals this year :-(  but the year isn't over yet. God giving chances are still available....pending...( I will share them with you towards the end of the year when I have hopefully achieve atleast 1.)

I'm really excited for the month of August however ;a lot of important events happening! I'm having my second traditional "wedding" and my little baby is turning into a toddler (Lelo's turning 1).

HOW CUTE IS THE INVITE!!!

I used an app called Greenvelope to design this beautiful, eco-friendly digital invitation. Please try it on Greenevelope.com https://www.greenvelope.com- so convenient and the invitation designs and templates are so gorg! My new favourite bestie in party planning!

With regards to the traditional wedding , its just gonna be an intimate Tswana bride welcoming shindig, nothing hectic but still a bit exciting none-the-less. I had a huge TRADITIONAL CEREMONY at home after my husband paid lobola for me in 2011, so my in-laws were basically saying its customary for me to be sent to my new home(their home in Mafikeng) for the overall traditional part of wedding to be done.We yet to still also have a white wedding- one of my life goals...So that's what is happening this Sat...lol....4 years and two kids later!

I'll post pics of my tswana traditional makoti outfit on the blog Monday....it too "cute"...lol!!!

So I'm really looking forward to this month, although I'm not doing as well as I wanted on my weightloss journey (so nervous for my progress pic on the 13th) ...its looking to be a great month!!!

Thank you Lord for everything going well in advance :-)

Anyway although my post is all over the place , I'm basically trying to say God is always giving us opportunities , everyday, every hour we living on this earth ,to better ourselves. Can we honestly say we've used them the full?I know most people believe living their lives is partying it up or going to all the lavish and top of the range places (although there's nothing wrong with it) but I view living my life as being the best me I can be -making the world better. I hope that I will live and be who I'm supposed to be one day. But we must keep pressing and using all these God-giving opportunities to the best of your ability.

Lets try set new goals with each month ,as a means of accomplishing all our life goals ....sort of...a means to an end. Most importantly lets strive and live the best lives  we can live. And also encourage and teach our babies, families and future generations to do the same.

Thoughts this Thursday

Good day my beautiful, super and absolutely wonderful starterFASHIONISTMA' mammies.

Quite a busy week this week so haven't posted much but I just had to post my Thoughts this Thursday  (T3- also know as three cubed) because this wisdom and thot has been popping in my head the whole week, non-stop so I figure God really wants me to share this with someone else out there, else well as to engrave it in my mind as well.

INVEST IN THINGS OF FUTURE VALUE (True value)!!!

I ,as I m sure other mammies do, am always tempted to buy things that bring joy  to me now. Luxuries , wants, things u can do without but although it will make u happy and sometimes even prettier now ,IS IT REALLY WORTH IT????

Although I am a firm believer in  looking after ones self and spoiling yourself at times (let's be honest if u work hard you deserve a little 'me' money )  but us as mammies and also daughters of the most High God should invest in things of future value , as much if not more than our daily human wants and luxuries.

I like looking online for the latest trends, beauty tips ,fashion etc and while I am sometimes doing this(especially this week) I hear a still voice asking me; "have you invested in a future for your kids ?" and sometimes  even ;" have you changed someone's life for good or blessed someone else lately?"Then I'll remember that its not all about the now and all about me either. Even though we living in a self-centred society and world nowadays ,we shouldn't conform! How about instead of another LV bag or Valentino shoes bless someone else with food to eat or even save those thousands for your babies future. Don't get me wrong I am not saying you shouldn't spoil yourself but can we also focus on investing on things of future value?

This thought like I said initially has being playing in my head like a broken record , so I 'm thinking God is asking me do some self reflection and I'm challenging you to do the same. As much as we share our latest style trends, beauty secrets here on this blog - I also believe in beauty that is inside and out.If your beautiful and right on the inside ,it will reflect outside as well. Its not just a clinche, I promise. God will bless you much more as you extend your hand to change some else's life.

I can go on and on convincing you what you should do with your money and life but I 'll just leave you with this homework for the weekend (especially it being pay day for some of us).

Step 1:
Next time you see the latest bag/shoe or watever item you "must have" ,before buying it please think how much good you would do if you save half of it towards your children's future and took another half and made a meal for a family that starving (they all around us if you open your eyes)? I am not referring to something you need so this homework only applies if you about to buy a luxury.

Step 2:
Next part of the homework step away from the item and do just that ( Step1)

Step 3:
How do you feel know you invested in something of future value ? Felt great right!!!

Lets do it ladies, change a life and change the future-Invest in things of true value!

We can do it and we would be wiser to do so...
